Bitcoin Is a Currency Virus, Michael Saylor Declares
Michael Saylor, co-founder and CEO of Strategy, shared the full recording of his public speech at the BTC Prague cryptocurrency event that took place last week. Blockstream CEO Adam Back also participated in the talk. During the conversation, Saylor addressed several important topics related to Bitcoin, including topics related to the BTC treasury company and answered some questions from the audience. Saylor Reveals the Mechanism of the BTC Treasury Company Starting his conversation with cypherpunk legend and ally of Satoshi Nakamoto, Adam Back, Saylor referred to Bitcoin as a "currency virus" or an "idea," and he called corporations "super spreaders" of Bitcoin.
One of the topics discussed by Saylor is how a Bitcoin treasury company operates, and he suggests that even a retail dentist could start by accumulating a few hundred thousand dollars in Bitcoin each year, then transition into a public company, issue securities, sell them, and buy millions of dollars in BTC. Saylor believes that public companies are best for this purpose. He also stated that although there are hundreds of trillions of dollars circulating in various financial markets, "long-term sustainable business operations involve issuing credit instruments backed by BTC and generating billions, tens of billions, and hundreds of billions" in profit. Saylor also explained in detail many metrics and models that Strategy presented, such as BTC profit and BTC yield, BTC ranking, BTC risk, and BTC credit. Saylor also discussed the credit tools STRK and STRF created by Strategy. Saylor Calls Bitcoin a "Currency Virus" As mentioned above, for Saylor, Bitcoin is a "currency virus" that is rapidly transforming the financial system and the world along with it. He believes that the way people and companies interact with Bitcoin is very diverse and is evolving quickly. Cryptocurrency exchanges may still be a thing of the past if individuals/corporations/banks start trading Bitcoin peer-to-peer, he said. And the current situation could change completely in five years. He added that Bitcoin offers great opportunities to build Layer-2 networks on it, concluding his speech by saying that there is "no second option" better than the idea of Bitcoin and what it can do in the future.
